‘Anton’s Blindness’ syndrome…..in the accounting context

my pet hate over many years has been dealing with business people and their bookkeepers who never ask for assistance but battle on making serious record keeping errors. If you ask them why they did not seek assistance they come up with every excuse under the sun [ I was sure it was ok, your fees are too high, why can’t it be sorted now? etc ]. In most spheres of business 75% success rate equals a distinction but a 25% error rating in accounting could spell disaster. Waiting for a monthly or quarterly review of the books could be too late in terms of remedial action.

so here is the ‘take home message’ from people who suffer ‘Anton’s Blindness’ ….get a software package that is cloud based [ so your accountant can make changes to your accounts immediately from his desk] and learn to use suspense accounts and get them cleared with expert assistance on a weekly basis.

the next step would be to get your accountant and solicitor to work with a ‘communications expert’ to determine if the corporate/family culture is conducive to developing a sustainable business plan.

your reference team should be made up of coaches in law, accounting and behavior.

its the last of these 3 areas that most people refuse to acknowledge to their lasting detriment.
